Key-person knowledge transfer template
A template to capture the critical knowledge held by one person — process, supplier, fix and customer — before it walks out of the door.
For each role the business critically depends on, complete one template. The goal is to make tacit knowledge transferable before a departure, not after. Section A — Processes: Which processes can only this person run, adjust or recover? Section B — Suppliers: Which supplier relationships, terms and contacts live only with this person? Section C — Fixes: Which recurring problems are only reliably solved by this person? Section D — Customers: Which customer relationships or approvals depend on this person? Section E — Documentation: What is currently undocumented that should be written down? Section F — Succession: Who is the deputy, and what is the handover timeline? For every 'this person only' answer, build a transfer action with an owner and a date.
